100,000 Passport Appointment Slots is Now Open!

For those who are waiting for Department of Foreign Affairs' (DFA) passport online appointment to be opened, the wait is now over but only for the meantime.   Around 100,000 passport appointment slots for February to May is now open starting Tuesday, January 23, 2018, around 1:00 pm.  It was only last month when netizens criticized DFA for a full schedule of passport online appointment slot until March. For those who are waiting for Department of Foreign Affairs' (DFA) passport online appointment to be opened, the wait is now over but only for the meantime.

Around 100,000 passport appointment slots for February to May is now open starting Tuesday, January 23, 2018, around 1:00 pm.

It was only last month when netizens criticized DFA for a full schedule of passport online appointment slot until March.

Because of this, DFA Secretary Allan Peter Cayetano implemented some reforms to fix the system and make passport application process fast and easy for all.

Including in this reform is the "passport on wheels" program. DFA is planning to implement longer work hours from 12-16 hours for DFA personnel to process more passport daily.

Cayetano added that 140 machines are expected to be delivered soon and will be deployed to satellite offices across the country and abroad to increase capacity. Each machine can process 80 to 100 passports in an 8-hour period.

No appointment is needed for the following:

  • Senior citizens with Senior Citizen ID
  • Persons with Disability (PWDs) with PWD ID or visible disability
  • Solo parent with valid Solo Parent ID
  • Pregnant women with medical certificate
  • Minors seven (7) years old and below
  • Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), even those who are working abroad for the first time

Those qualified may walk into the Priority Lane at DFA Aseana or any DFA Satellite Office or Regional Consular Office.

DFA to Open 9 Consular Offices in Provinces to Step-Up Passport Processing

To make passport application process fast and easy to Filipinos, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that it will open nine more consular offices across the nation this 2018!

These offices will be in addition to current 28 DFA consular office that catering 9,000 passport application a day according to DFA Secretary Allan Peter Cayetano. Through this move, DFA's daily capacity of passport applicant will increase from 9,000 to 15,000.

According to the DFA Chief, these consular offices will be set up to the following regions;
  • San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte
  • Santiago, Isabela
  • Malolos or Meycauayan, Bulacan
  • Calamba or San Pablo, Laguna
  • Dasmariñas City, Cavite
  • Antipolo, Rizal
  • Oroquieta City or Ozamiz City
  • Misamis Occidental
  • Tagum, Davao del Norte.
Aside from this four mobile trucks for passport processing or passport on wheels will roll out very soon to process another 2,500 passports per day. But this "passport-on-wheels" unit will be deployed in Metro Manila.

Netizens are criticizing and calling out the DFA in social media for its fully-booked passport appointment until March 2018 while the schedule for April onward has yet to be opened.
