Traffic Rules and Fines in the UAE

The Ministry of Interior has recently announced new traffic rules with tougher penalties. It will be made official soon and will be implemented in all seven emirates.  Here are some of the violations and corresponding penalties:  Driving at 80km/h over the speed limit for light vehicles Dh3,000 fine, 23 black points, and car impounded for 60 days Exceeding maximum speed limit by more than 60km/hr Dh2000 fine, 12 black points and vehicle impounded for 30 days Driving under the influence of alcohol Penalty to be decided by the court, 23 black points and vehicle impounded for 60 days Causing death of others Penalty to be decided by the court, 23 black points, vehicle impounded for 60 days Causing serious injuries Penalty to be decided by the court, 23 black points and vehicle impounded for 30 days Jumping a red light for light vehicles Dh1000 fine, 12 black points and vehicle impounded for 30 days Overtaking on the hard shoulder Dh1000 fine, 6 black points Driving against traffic Dh600 fine, 4 black points Failure to fasten seat belt while driving for all passengers Dh400 fine, 4 black points

In UAE,creating or using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) fraudulently  can land you in jail and pay AED2,000 to AED2,000,000.
Yes,you read it right and it is actually included in the new series of federal laws on IT crimes. 

Article 1 provides for replacing the text of Article 9 of Federal Law No. 9/2012 as follows:

Whoever uses a fraudulent computer network protocol address (IP address) by using a false address or a third-party address by any other means for the purpose of committing a crime or preventing its discovery, shall be punished by temporary imprisonment and a fine of no less than Dh500,000 and not exceeding Dh2,000,000, or either of these two penalties.
What is a VPN Client or a VPN Network?
VPN passthrough,  allows you to connect to a secure VPN server or a secured private network and hide your actual location which is considered as a fraudulent use of an IP address.

Some apps like  viber,snapchat,whatsapp,which are messaging and voice apps and are used by the expats to communicate with their families in their home countries for free are inaccessible in the region.People use VPNs to acces these apps so that they dont need to use expensive  services offered by the local Telcos.

In Saudi Arabia, Latest News is You Can Get 25% Money Reward if you Report Violation; 

Meanwhile, Ministry of Labor law in Saudi Arabian Government is giving rewards to anyone who will report Saudization violations,especially in the IT sector.The amount equal to 25% of the actual fine will be rewarded to the informant as announced by Labor and Social Development Minister Mufrej Al-Haqabani. 

The ministry will conduct "community inspections" allowing every individual to report Saudization violations.
This is in accordance with  the 100% Saudization goal for the IT Sector starting on September.

Haqabani said that young Saudis has proven their ability in the IT sector and that they are the source of pride and their participation in the IT market is fantastic and professional and the young Saudi IT's proved that they are capable of doing such tasks.

Saudization aims to give jobs to locals including Saudi women,improve working environment and reduce unemployment rate in the Kingdom.

We hope they will also check Saudi violations for expats, including those expats who has no private health insurance.
