Good News! OFW In UAE Death Row, Now Free From Death Penalty

Good news! Jennifer Dalquez, an OFW in the UAE who was charged with murder for killing her employer who tried to rape her, is now free from death penalty.
The good news was confirmed by her mother, Alicia Dalquez, from their lawyer from DFA who is currently handling her case.

Dalquez is now acquitted from the murder case and is no longer required to pay the blood money to her employer's family.

However, Jennifer still has to serve 5 years jail term for theft charges before she can finally go home to her kids. Since she has already served more than 2 years in jail, she will just have to complete the remaining years, which according to her mother, is only about 2 years and a half.

Jennifer's mother already talked with the OFW and she said that she is very grateful to the people who helped her with her case.
Asking if she will continue to try and find her luck overseas, her mother said that all she wanted now is to take care of her kids and make a living in the Philippines with them.

Overseas Workers Welfare Organization (OWWA) Administrator hans leo Cacdac has disclosed that OWWA board of trustees has recently approved a resolution allotting financial aid for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), who were affected by the ongoing clash between the government forces and the Maute terror group in Marawi City. The approved financial aid amounting to P100 million will be distributed by the agency to the affected OFW families.

The biggest challenge to returning OFWs who lost their jobs from hostilities or distressful situations abroad is how to sustain the needs of their family now that they have lost their jobs. OWWA is now ready to help them start over with programs suited to help displaced OFWs. Ms.Rosalina B. Casuga is a worker from Malaysia for six months. She is a returnee from San Carlos Heights, Baguio City. She applied under the Balik Pinas Balik Hanap Buhay Program at OWWA CAR and received her starter kits livelihood assistance on June 2, 2017. The program is a package of livelihood support to returning OFW's who are either displaced by hostilities, distressed workers or other distressful situations. The aim is to help the returning OFWs by providing livelihood that will generate everyday income for the family. The OWWA “Balik Pinas! Balik Hanapbuhay!” Program is a non-cash livelihood support/assistance intended to provide immediate relief to returning member-OFWs who were displaced from their jobs due to wars/political conflicts in host countries, or policy reforms, controls and changes by the host government; or were victims of illegal recruitment and/or human trafficking or other distressful situations. It is a package of livelihood assistance amounting to Ten Thousand Pesos (Php 10,000.00) maximum consisting of techno-skills and/or entrepreneurship trainings, starter kits/goods and/or such other services that will enable beneficiaries to quickly start a livelihood undertaking through self/wage employment. Filipina in Death Row in UAE Will Not Be Executed Says Labor Chief

A family of one Filipina in a death row in the United Arab Emirates can breathe a sigh of relief after Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said that she will be spared from execution.

Bello confirmed that Jennifer Dalquez, 29 years old from General Santos City and an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who is currently on death row in Abu Dhabi will no longer be executed.

In a press conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Bello said he was invited by five ambassadors after he said that he will ban the deployment of household service workers to the Middle East if another OFW gets executed.

The assurance given from the ambassadors will benefit the case of Dalquez.

In the statement of the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, it said that Dalquez hearing scheduled on April 12 has been moved to April 26, 2017.

In the last hearing, the OFW was present but the two sons of the accused did not attend the proceedings.

Accordingly, the sons did not attend the hearing because Dalquez has already admitted to killing their father.

But the court reiterated that the sons need to appear in court and swear in the name of Allah, 25 times, that Dalquez is the person who killed their father.

Failing this, the court will ask Dalquez in the next hearing, to swear in the name of Allah, 50 times, that she did not intentionally kill the alleged victim.

Dalquez was jailed in 2014 for killing her Arab employer who allegedly tried to rape her.

If remembered, families of Dalques appeal to President Duterte for help to save Jennifer.

Base on DFA record, there are 71 Filipino in death row after convicted with finality.

DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III has issued a statement in front of the officials of the recruiting agencies who are deploying OFWs in the Middle East that he will seriously consider to ban OFW deployment in the Middle East if another OFW will be executed.

At least 71 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) are on Death Row in different parts of the world, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs. DFA spokesperson Charles Jose said t over the past few years the number has in fact decreased after several death sentences were either suspended or reduced to life sentence.

On His ReturnPresident Rodrigo Roa Duterte left for the Middle East on Monday for a state visit in three Gulf Countries which includes Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar, with a promise that he will bring some of the OFWs who had been on death row in the said countries, except Qatar, where there are no recorded OFWs on death row.

KUWAITI PRINCE AMONG 7 PEOPLE EXECUTED ALONG WITH PINAY OFW

Arab countries like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait has strong and strict implementation of death penalty.
The law will be carried out no matter what social status do you have.
In Saudi Arabia, a member of a royal family, Prince Turki Bin Saud Al-Kabir has been executed for killing a Saudi citizen Adel bin Suleiman bin Abdul Karim Mohaimeed.
The victim's family refused the offer of "blood money" and demanded that the execution be carried out.
Saudi Ministry of interior said that "legitimate punishment would be the fate of whoever tries to assault innocent people and shed their blood."

In Kuwait, an OFW was executed for allegedly killing her employer's 22 years old daughter. The victim sustained 28 stabwounds.

Among the 7 people executed at the same day was a Kuwaiti Prince Sheikh Faisal Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who was sentenced to death in 2010 for killing his nephew, another prince, according to Kuwaiti newspapers.
It was the first time that a Kuwaiti member of the ruling Al-Sabah family has been executed.
The Prince's crime was premeditated murder and illegal possession of firearms.

Among the executed prisoners was Nusra al-Enezi, a Kuwait national, who was convicted of setting a tent on fire during a wedding party for her husband and his second wife. The blaze killed more than 50 people.

The seven people executed at the Kuwait Central Jail includes the Kuwaiti prince, A Kuwaiti woman, the OFW, and certain 3 men and two women from Bangladesh, Egypt, and Ethiopia . With various cases including murder and rape.

Jakatia Pawa, an OFW in Kuwait was sentenced to death for the alleged murder of her employer's daughter.
On January 19, 2010, the Court of Cassation (Kuwait’s Supreme Court) affirmed the decision of the Court of Appeals sentencing Jakatia to death for killing the 22-year-old daughter of her Kuwaiti employer in 2007. The victim died of 28 stab wounds.
The 32-year-old Overseas Filipino Worker (0FW) had been working for her employer for five years prior to the incident.

Her family is appealing to President Rodrigo Duterte to make a last hour attempt to save her life.

Lieutenant Colonel Gary Pawa said his sister Jakatia, a domestic helper in Kuwait, told him in a phone call early Wednesday that her execution is scheduled on Thursday as he told in an interview .

UPDATE:

Jakatia Pawa was already executed today January 25, 2017 at 10:19 AM Kuwait time, 3:19 Philippine time, according to the DFA.

The DFA said they they did everything to save the OFW from the execution and they had provided top lawyers but the family of the victim firmly refused to accept the blood money. The agency also said that they respect the Kuwait justice system.

Jakatia Pawa's remains will be buried, as per Islamic rites, in Kuwait and DFA is coordinating to bring home at least the late OFW's belongings to her family in the Philippines.
