'Sinira n'yo ang tiwala ng gobyerno!' 134 Barangay Officials, Kinasuhan Dahil sa Anomalya sa SAP Distribution

Sa gitna ng nagaganap na COVID-19 crisis sa bansa, 134 barangay officials ang kinasuhan kamakailan dahil sa pagkakasangkot sa mga anomalya na may kinalaman sa pamimigay ng ayuda mula sa pamahalaan sa ilalim ng Social Amelioration Program (SAP).
Sa gitna ng nagaganap na COVID-19 crisis sa bansa, 134 barangay officials ang kinasuhan kamakailan dahil sa pagkakasangkot sa mga anomalya na may kinalaman sa pamimigay ng ayuda mula sa pamahalaan sa ilalim ng Social Amelioration Program (SAP). Ang nasabing tala, nangangahulugan daw ng 320 percent increase sa mga bilang ng barangay officials na humaharap na ngayon ng criminal charges, na 42 lamang ang kabuuan noong Mayo 20. “Hindi ninyo matatakasan ang mga panlolokong ginawa ninyo sa pamimigay ng ayuda. Sinira ninyo ang tiwala ng gobyerno at ng inyong mga kabarangay kaya sa kalaunan, sa kulungan ang bagsak ninyo,” dismayadong wika ni DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año. 'Marami pang kakasuhan' Aniya, may siyam na kaso pang isasampa ang Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation Group (PNP-CIDG) sa mga susunod na araw at kasalukuyan din nitong minamadali ang case build-up ng 86 na kaso. Pinasalamatan ng DILG Chief ang PNP-CIDG dahil sa mabilis na aksyon nito sa mga reklamo mula sa publiko. We need to send a strong message to corrupt barangay officials that their criminal activities will not be tolerated,” aniya. Ilan sa mga kaso Sa Boac, Marinduque, isang barangay chairman, dalawang barangay kagawad, at SK chairperson ang kinasuhan dahil sa ilegal na pangongolekta ng P50 processing fee mula sa mga SAP beneficiary. May naiulat din na ganitong insidente sa in Binmaley, Pangasinan, kung saan ang kapitan at ang isang tauhan nito ay naireklamo sa pagsingil ng P1,000 mula sa isang residenteng tumanggap ng SAP assistance. Sa Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur naman, isinuplong ng mga residente ang isang punong barangay dahil sa pagkaltas ng tig-P2,000 mula sa 132 SAP recipients. Mayroon din mga kinasuhan dahil sa paglalagay ng pangalan ng kani-kanilang mga kamag-anak sa listahan nga SAP beneficiaries kahit hindi naman sila kabilang sa mga "poorest of the poor" at mga nawalan ng pagkakakitaan sa gitna ng lockdown.

Samantala, nagpaabot din ng pasasalamat si DILG Spokesperson and Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya sa Department of Justice at sa Prosecutor General sa pagbibigay order sa lahat ng provincial at city prosecutors na unahin ang preliminary investigation ng mga kaso laban sa mga barangay official na dawit sa SAP anomalies.

DFA SECRETARY YASAY VOWS TO ADDRESS ANOMALY IN PASSPORT PRINTING

Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr, vowed to pursue the alleged passport printing anomaly and bring it immediately to President Duterte's attention for appropriate action. DFA SECRETARY YASAY VOWS TO ADDRESS ANOMALY IN PASSPORT PRINTING “During the previous administration, the printing of our e-passports was transferred from the BSP to a government controlled agency known as APO that did not have the capability, the equipment or expertise to print this passport,” Yasay said. This clearly explain why the e-passports are taking a very unreasonable time to be printed. They gave the job to the wrong people. The Secretary said that he had attempted to stop the anomaly by urging the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas (BSP) to take the job back but, to his surprise, the BSP refused to do so. Last year, a graft case has been filed by the Anti-Trapo Movement (ATM), an anti corruption watchdog, against the two former DFA Secretaries Alberto Romulo and Albert del Rosario, together with other DFA and BSP personnels who served under the two previous administrations. Romulo was Foreign Affairs Secretary from August 2005 to February 2011 while Del Rosario held the post from February 2011 to March 2016. In a statement by the ATM, they said that, “The Department of Foreign Affairs and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas be made to explain why a total of P1.625 Billion of sparse and limited taxpayers' money has been spent by the DFA/BSP on the E-Passport project since early 2011, when the Machine Readable Passport/Visa (MRP/V) Project would have entailed absolutely no cost in terms of taxpayers' money.” The group said that the supposed e-passport production anomalies continued under former DFA Secretary del Rosario, awarding the negotiated contract to APO Production Unit, which has no track record on printing security documents such as the Philippine Passport, and said to be using an outdated and cheap printing equipments. Yasay said he already informed President Duterte about the matter--his plans and actions. “First and foremost, I would like that private entity to be liable to us. Once an agreement is signed to this effect, then I can sit down with them and deal with these specific problems that we are now facing and if it cannot be fixed at least I have a recourse against them,” he said.
