Many people are on a panic regarding a new strain of corona virus that emerged in Wuhan China around December 2019. This virus has been known to many as Wuhan virus. Unlike the other strain of corona virus, wuhan virus is highly contagious that many cities in China has already declared lock down as they try to contain it.

The Wuhan virus, that has currently recorded 1,354 confirmed cases of which 41 died, is more contagious compared to other strains of Corona virus like MERS, and SARS.

 This diagram shows how a person could become infected with corona virus. The virus can infect a person through the nose, mouth and eyes. For this reason, people are advised to use  mask as much as possible. Disinfect and wash hands and refrain from touching the face, particularly the eyes, nose and mouth.

The virus can be acquired through direct contact. When someone infected with the virus sneezes or coughs, droplets are released in the air.  It is advisable to wear a mask and refrain from touching the face including the eyes, ears, nose  or mouth. Due to wuhan virus being highly contagious, taking precautionary measures and avoiding public exposure is advisable. 

The symptoms of infection are the following:

Cough

Sore throat

High fever

Difficulty breathing can also be one of the symptoms in the later stage. The virus is known to cause infection in the lungs or pneumonia. 

These symptoms are also associated with common flu. If you experience these symptoms or any of it, please visit the nearest hospital so you could be tested.  

Some precautionary measures you can do to avoid being infected with coronavirus:

Wash your hands as often as possible.

Avoid touching your face. The virus usually infects a person as it enters the  eyes, nose, mouth and ears.

Keep alcohol or sanitizer handy and use it as often as you get in contact or touches anything. 

Use mask to protect yourself and also when you are feeling unwell to protect others.
