STEP BY STEP PROCESS ON HOW TO AVAIL OF SENIOR CITIZEN'S PENSION AND OTHER BENEFITS

DSWD’s Acceptance of Applications of Social Pension for Senior Citizens.   "Pursuant to the eligibility criteria as may be determined by the DSWD, indigent senior citizens shall be entitled to a monthly stipend amounting to Five hundred pesos (Php 500.00) to augment the daily subsistence and other medical needs of senior citizens. The grant of social pension shall be subject to a review every two (2) years by Congress, in consultation with the DSWD within three months after convening the Congress."  Good news for our needy senior citizens. All those who are 60 years old and above may now avail of Social Pension Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). advertisement  According to a regional information officer of DSWD this is how to file SENIOR CITIZEN's application. You may bring the following requirements at the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) or at the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA).  REQUIREMENTS  1. Senior Citizen idenfication card (ID) 2. Certificate of Indigency (Kindly prepare Barangay Certificate of Residency and Assessment Report from the CSWDO Field Offices. As such, CSWDO will be issuing this certificate as well.)  Upon submission of the requirements, the applicants will be evaluated by the social workers. Afterwards, it will be recommended to the DSWD regional office for final validation.  Once qualified on the other hand, applicants are not expected to receive their social pension amounting to PhP 1,500 per quarter or P500 monthly. They will be placed in the pensioner’s wait-list.

According to a regional information officer of DSWD this is how to file SENIOR CITIZEN's application. You may bring the following requirements at the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) or at the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA).

REQUIREMENTS

2. Certificate of Indigency

  • Valid ID ( Voter's ID, Driver's License, NBI Clearance, Police Clearance, Old Residence Certificate, ID, Postal ID, or any combination of identification documents confirming the applicants name, date of birth and present address)

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS?
Qualified to receive the P500 monthly stipend are senior citizens who are frail, sickly, or have disabilities; are not receiving pension from Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), or Veterans Pension; and do not have a permanent source of income or regular support from relatives.

The pension is distributed every quarter through cash payment by DSWD Field Offices or city/municipal social welfare and development offices.

The Municipal/City Federations of Senior Citizens shall assist OSCA in the foregoing functions:  8.1 to provide the initial nationally uniform identification cards which shall be issued through the OSCA.  The nationally uniform individual identification cards shall contain the following information:  a) Control Number, Date of Issue  b) Name  c) Address  d) Age, as supported by a certified birth certificate from the Office of Civil Registrar; Birth date  e) Annual income, as supported by a certificate of exemption from payment of income tax issued by the local office of the Bureau of internal Revenue (BIR)  f) Picture  g) Signature of senior citizen  A senior citizen whose income is P60,000.00 and below annually shall be issued a national ID card, which contains the mandatory elderly, discount privileges/benefits under RA 7432.  This shall be duly signed by the mayor of the senior citizen’s locality, the Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). This shall be non-transferrable.  8.2. to assist in developing the standards of programs and services of OSCA.  8.3. to provide technical assistance and monitor services and projects to be undertaken by the OSCA.

Do you have a family member who turned 60 years old? Senior citizens in the Philippines are entitled to certain privileges however it is important to acquire Senior Citizen ID. A senior citizen must present his or her ID in order to avail benefits.

When applying for replacement of a lost Senior Citizen's ID Card, an applicant must:
  • Submit two (2) copies of an Affidavit of Loss
  • Submit two (2) copies of a Police or Barangay Report, and
  • Pay an ID replacement fee


PROCESS;
You simply have to visit the Municipal's Office of Senior Citizen's Affair (OSCA) and submit the requirements as listed above. You will be asked to fill up a form. For those applying in Quezon City here is a form you can download and fill up to be submitted to OSCA.
