Houthi Targeted Abha Airport, 26 Hurt Including Children

The Saudi-led Arab coalition confirmed Yemen's Houthi group launched overnight a "terrorist" attack against Saudi Arabia's Abha airport.

Saudi Arabia's Abha International Airport has been attacked by Iran-aligned Houthi group, injuring 26 civilians of different nationalities, the country's officials confirmed as they promise to deliver a "firm" response.

Eight of the people injured have been transferred to hospital, while 18 more were treated on site after suffering minor wounds.

Among those wounded in the attack, there are three women of Yemeni, Indian and Saudi nationality, and two Saudi children.

The structure of the Abha International Airport also suffered damages, according to Colonel Turki al-Maliki.

A total of 26 civilian passengers of different nationalities were injured by the projectile, including three women (Yemeni, Indian, Saudi) and two Saudi children, Colonel Al- Maliki said, citing the tally up to the time of preparation of this statement.

Eight cases were transferred to hospital for treatment for moderate injuries, while 18 were treated at the site for minor injuries. There was also some physical damage to the airport lounge.

Colonel Al-Maliki said that the military and security forces are working to determine the type of projectile used in the terrorist attack, at a time when the terrorist Iran-backed Houthi militia, claimed through its media full responsibility for this terrorist attack saying it used a cruise missile, which constitutes a clear recognition and full responsibility for targeting civilians and civilian objects that are subject to special protection under international humanitarian law, and thus could amount to a war crime of targeting civilians and civilian objects in a systematic manner.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Embassy in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia has released a Public advisory for overseas Filipino workers (OFW) who are deployed in the kingdom to be vigilant and precautious yet calm regarding the present situation in Saudi Arabia.

PICTURES AND VIDEOS: Flood ravaged Saudi Arabia, heavy rainful to continue

One died, one is missing, 10 injured while 280 were rescued in the severe flooding in Asir Region of Saudi Arabia.

Arab News reported that the Saudi Arabian Civil Defense confirmed that they received more than 900 emergency calls due to flooding from southern cities of Abha and Khamis Mushayt.

The poor weather condition caused the flood in the region which resulted in road closures and schools shut down.

Civil Defense authorities said many people in Abha City were rescued after their cars submerged in the water although no injuries were reported because of the rainstorm.
