She Applied to a Recruitment Agency that was Closed Down by POEA, Now She Can't Recover Her Documents

Her agency are holding her passport and they will not return her passport and documents because she decided not to pursue going to Kuwait because the agency was closed down by POEA.

She applied to a recruitment agency, unfortunately the agency was closed down by POEA for many administrative cases or violations. Now she is having a hard time recovering her passport and documents.

  We advised OFWs and applicants for work abroad to check on the lists of accredited agencies here in this page or at POEA website, recruitment agencies with good track record.

POEA promised her to support her in legal means so she can recover her documents that is important in applying for jobs. POEA said that agencies do not have the right to keep passport and documents of applicants they were not able to deploy.

Margaphil Technical Institute Recruitment Agency Caught And Closed By POEA

Another illegal recruitment agency has been closed by POEA.

The agency named Margaphil Technical Institute located in Unit E & J, Violeta Court, 2814 F.B.Harrison St., Pasay City has been caught recruiting workers bound for Japan without license, as well as collecting training fees amounting to Php 25,000- 35,000 from its victims.

One of its board member, who introduced himself as Pasay City Barangay Official named Romeo Reyes together with Audrey Buena Cruz, Rowena Alcanzo (Weng), Zenaida Molino, Patricia Samia, Wilson Montejo, and Relibeth Rendin will be facing charges.

POEA Revokes License of Recruitment Agency After Collecting Php110,000 Placement Fee

The collection of placement fee specifically for domestic workers is strictly prohibited and could result in cancellation of POEA license.

This is what happened to Jao International Manpower Services after its president named, Rhoda Caradova collected Php 110,000 to one of its applicant bound to work in Romania as domestic helper. The OFW sold her house and lot in order to pay for the placement fee. It was also noted that the president of the agency didn't give receipt after she paid for it.


The OFW received USD 400 as salary but her contract was terminated by her employer and she has to return to Philippines after 4 months.
