New Ordinances In Manila Giving Cash assistance to Grade 12 Students, Senior Citizen, Solo Parents And PWDs' signed Into Law By Mayor Isko Moreno


Manila Mayor Isko Moreno signed his first two city ordinances granting a P500 monthly cash aid for Grade 12 students in all public schools in the city, persons with disability (PWD), solo parents and senior citizens on Thursday (July 25) .


The ordinances were signed at the Bulwagang Katipunan of the Manila City Hall in the presence of Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, Majority Floor Leader Joel Chua, and members of the Manila City Council.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said that as a response to the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte and as a mayor of Manila, being considered as a capital city of the country, his office along with the city councilors will initiate the action.    Effective immediately, all Grade 12 students enrolled in any public school in Manila would receive P500 monthly allowance from the city government under Ordinance No. 8564.    To qualify for the cash aid, students should have a good standing, must be a resident and registered voter in the City of Manila. If the student is still too young to register as voter, his or her parent or legal guardian should be the registered voter.    The order said students may be disqualified from receiving the cash aid if they had been dismissed before the end of the school year.    Under Ordinance No. 8565, cash aid will be provided for solo parents, senior citizens and PWDs .    The order defined a senior citizen as someone who is at least 60 years old. To qualify, they should be residents and registered voters of Manila and their names must appear on a list of the Manila Office of Senior Citizens’ Affairs.  Ads      Sponsored Links    The mayor also said that they will soon implement an ordinance seeking to order local businesses to hire senior citizens and PWDs to work in their establishments. Every establishment in Metro Manila will also be required to have 70% of employees to be residents of Manila.

Selling alcoholic beverages and liquor is also not allowed to be sold in any stores or establishments including leading convenience stores near all the schools within the City of Manila effective immediately.
