Read: LIST OF ACCREDITED FREIGHT FORWARDERS   Aileen Faller has a bad experience regarding  a certain freight forwarder.Her mother,an OFW from New York, sent a balikbayan box to her but it has been delivered to the wrong recipient,has been opened and lost some of the items.However,the cargo company and Aileen agreed to settle  the issue and the forwarder paid Aileen the amount of Php10,000 instead. According to DTI, a total of 57 cases of undelivered box and 1 missing package  has been recorded since January of this year.  DTI warned the public to be wary of freight forwarding companies who are offering lower cargo rates.They also encourage the public to check if the cargo forwarder or consolidator are accredited by DTI by checking on their website.DTI also reminded the OFWs to refrain from sending prohibited items like legal tenders,guns and ammunitions,illegal drugs,pornographic materials,pirated dvd's,plants and seeds,any items in commercial quantities,fresh food products. Customs Commissioner Faeldon is appealing to the public and to the OFWs to bear with the bureau as they will again implement tight checking and monitoring  of every balikbayan boxes. "In spite of ongoing massive operations in stopping it,they are continuously taking this very,very high risk in bringing these drugs to the country," Faeldon said.     advertisement In the past 3 weeks ,almost 2.5 kilos of cocaine and 2,000 pcs of ecstacy has been apprehended by the bureau.
