Wellwishers Lounge Now Open In NAIA For OFWs And Their Families

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 already opened its "Wellwishers Lounges" and they are encouraging OFWs and their families to avail and use the area.

Heat, sweat, and broken hearts- that was how you could describe the farewell of overseas Filipino workers or OFWs at Ninoy Aquino International Airport before the opening of Wellwishers Lounge, many OFWs and their families choose to stay outside NAIA Terminal 1 and spend few more minutes together as they brace for many months or years of being apart.

This is the usual scene outside NAIA, under the scorching sun, families and friends have to stay outside to bid farewell to their relative who is bound to work overseas.

But not anymore, because today a lounge specifically for OFWs and their families was opened.
The Wellwishers Lounge is now open for the use of OFWs and their friends and relatives who wants to bid them farewell before their flight. It is opened for the convenience and to at least ease the heavy hearts of those who will send-off loved ones to work overseas.

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal and an OFW Girlie Maalihan who is leaving for Riyadh, cut the ceremonial ribbon for the lounge.

NAIA HAS IT ALL-IMMIGRATION MODUS, TANIM-LAGLAG-BALA, STOLEN BAGGAGE ITEMS, TIPS FROM BAGGAGE BOYS, AND OVERCHARGING TAXI

American geophysicist based in the Philippines who lives in Makati: "You know, I love this country, but you have the worst airport in the world. The last thing arriving passengers want is to get hassled. And they won't allow Uber here."

From stolen or lost belongings to tanim-bala and other modus from the people surrounding the NAIA airport, even the porters and the baggage boys, and now the taxi's.
WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO DESERVE THIS KIND OF AIRPORT?

"The authorities should look into the alleged overcharging by airport taxis at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as this can drive away tourists and give the country a bad image, there are a lot of dreadful stories circulating online about airport taxis notoriously overcharging and duping passengers -- whether they are local tourists, overseas Filipino workers, or foreigners visiting our country. Our transportation and airport authorities should look into this matter seriously and resolve this right away or else, Philippine tourism will suffer,” said Angara, vice chairman of the Senate tourism committee." - Senator Sonny Angara

JANUARY 2016: SAR87 FOR ONE WAY AIRPORT TERMINAL FEE IN SAUDI ARABIA

Inbound and outbound international passengers would have to pay an SR87 fee for using airport facilities starting Jan. 1, 2016, ArabNews reported. The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has announced that the fees would be recovered from airlines. The airlines, presumably will add up this cost to passenger’s airline tickets.

Originally, KSA airports are collecting SR50 for terminal fee upon purchase of tickets.

Right now, for each ticket purchased, airline company will collect additional  SR87 for terminal fee, or SR174 for round trip ticket (arrival and departure in the Kingdom).
On the other hand, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Civil Aviation (Gaca) announced that they will begin to privatize the operations of its airports in the first quarter of 2016, starting with Riyadh’s King Khaled International airport (KKIA). They are planning to privatize total of 27 airports in the Kingdom, in order to lessen the expenses and deficit due to lower oil revenues because of the low oil oil price.
