In accordance with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) position in the global tourism sector to make it a prime destination, the number of passengers traveling through the country's airports jumped to 32.8 million during the first quarter of 2018.
In June, passengers transiting through the country's airports were exempted from all entry fees for the first 48 hours. Transit visas can have an extension up to 96 hours for Dh50. Express counters were set up in passport control halls at all airports to facilitate the process.
This month, tourism fees in Dubai and Abu Dhabi were also reduced to help stem a fall in room rates and boost occupancy levels. Another thing, to boost tourism and attract the visitors and their families, the visa fee for minors below 18 years old have been waived.

In an effort to promote family tourism, the United Arab Emirates cabinet announced that visa fee will be waived for children under 18 from July 15 to September 15 every year.
The Cabinet’s decision aims to reduce the cost on visitors during the summer season and is expected to make the country a prime destination attracting more families.
