OFW Nabbed in Riyadh For Human Trafficking

Be warned OFWs in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia, who are cuddling runaways and helping them find a new employer, even out of intention to help.

Police in Riyadh arrested a Filipino expatriate  allegedly involved in human trafficking cases by helping maids who ran away from their sponsors’ houses and illegally employing them.

Col. Fawaz Al-Maiman, police media spokesman of the Riyadh region said that after receiving reports on the escape of household service workers of different nationalities, the police analyzed the information gathered confirming that the Filipino was involved in the case.
The authorities set up an ambush and found two expat maids who were previously reported  missing in his custody. He was then arrested.
The Filipino confessed that  he helped them both to  abscond from their sponsors and find new employers for them.
He is presently detained at the police center, while the maids were referred to the Ministry of Labor and Social Development’s center for sheltering.

The Bureau for Criminal Investigation in the region will press charges against the OFW according to anti-human trafficking and residency laws.
