QATAR THROUGH EMIR GRANTED PARDON TO TEN (10) OVERSEAS FILIPINO LANGUISHING IN JAIL


According to the report of the Philippine Embassy in Doha as reported to the DFA in Manila, that clemency or pardon was granted to 10 overseas Filipino workers (OFW) currently languishing in jail. The clemency was issued by the Emir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in time for the celebration of the Qatar National Day last 18th of December, 2015.
This is the second time the Emir issued a pardon, the first one was during the holy month of Ramadan. 

The OFWs that was granted with pardon usually spends many years in jail and served their sentence for a long time. According to report, the embassy in Doha is now in the process of processing their repatriation in coordination with the Search and Follow-Up Department under the Ministry of Interior.
