Non-EU Immigrant With Less Than £35,000 Will Face Deportation in UK

United Kingdom or UK has been a home to many Filipino nurses. A lot of Filipinos leave their country in hope of much better job opportunity, higher salary, as well as to stay there permanently.

But the new immigration rule states that non- European immigrants who had been in the UK for more than 5 years with annual income of less than £35,000 could face deportation.
Home Secretary Ms. Theresa May said: "The new rules will see us exercising control, ensuring that only the best and the brightest remain in Britain permanently."

Nearing the time of implementation which is April 2016,  the fear spreads across many industries that this could result to greater skill shortage. The Filipino nurses particularly feared that this would affect them since most nurses were paid between  £21,000 and £28,000 a year. NHS and RCN data also showed that in order to earn £35,000 they must hold senior nurse position or nurse consultant or matron.
The Royal College of Nursing said: "The new rules will deprive the NHS of experienced nurses when demand for them is greater than ever before."

That's why it is a big relief for many when UK Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, said: "The nursing profession is being added to the Shortage Occupation List, which enables employers to recruit personnel from outside the European Union more easily."

This policy does not also apply to those under the shortage occupation list like those working in finance, IT, researchers and scientists in Phd level occupation, teachers in math, chemistry and physics.
