AWARDING NIGHT

Napagdesisyunan ng mga taga PEBA TEAM na sa December 27, Sunday, mga 6:00PM gaganapin ang Awarding ng Top 10 Pinoy Expats/OFW Blog Awards or PEBA. Ayusin niyo na ang mga schedule at flight booking para sa araw na ito kasi Christmas season.

Tinatanggap na rin naming magsponsor at magdonate ang mga pulitiko pero pinapairal namin ang transparency dito. Ang hangad lang namin ay ang pera, hindi ang mapasama sa media, hahaha.

 Wala kaming kinikilingan at kahit kailan hindi ang PEBA magiindorso ng sinumang pulitiko.

Ang PEBA kapag naging isang legal na organization na ito under SEC registration ay magiging aktibo sa pagtulong ng mga OFW at kababayang nasa abroad sa pamamagitan ng kanang kamay nitong KABLOGS.

Well it seems that PEBA does not want to be confined to just giving awards but harnessing bloggers to take actions on the issues and concerns of the millions of OFWs and Expats around the world."

Thanks Pete. KABLOGS through Charlie and George and their team is doing all they can to assist a DH - mother in Saudi Arabia and another in Amman, Jordan. They don't have enough manpower and resources for now, to expand their grasp. But slowly, they are doing all they can. 

So ano nga ba ang mga nasa isip namin na mangyayari during the awarding?

Kasalukuyang pinagtatagpi -tagpi ni Yanah ng PEBA ang programang ito. Sa gitna ng stage ay may slideshow ng more than lifesize photos ng mga batang nagtatawanan na anak ng mga OFWs as well as mga iba't ibang photos ng mga OFW sa iba't ibang panig ng mundo. Kasalukuyan itong kinakalap ni Azel ng PEBA, kasabay ng pagdesenyo ng trophy/plaque na ipamimigay. Si Ion ay nakatambay sa online Video Streaming para ihahatid live via Sopcast at Justin TV ang programang ito.

Isang simple pero eleganteng parangal ang nakahanda sa mga nanalo. Isang napakalaking EB rin seguro ng mga blogger na OFW at Expats sa lahat ng sulok ng mundo. We are expecting 200-500 visitors will attend. We also expect politicians of the likes of Manny Villar, Kiko Pangilinan, Noli De Castro, Mar Roxas, or De Venecia and other government agencies that directly involved sa flights ng mga OFW's. We also expect The Ople Policy Center, and other NGO's to be there.

Walang bahid pulitika, kawang-gawa lang. Ang kelangan lang namin ay inyong suporta pero don't expect us to go to the media and praise you, guys. (I'm talking sa mga pulitiko, hehehe) We don't need money, remember Expats kami at OFW's, malalaki pa ang sahod namin sa inyo, hahaha! (with the kotong and pork stuff, mas malaki ang kita niyo, of course!) Peace sa mga pinagpipitagang grupo, in fairness, there are some na likas na honest at totoo.

We expect media entities, as we are in contact with GMA7 and ABS-CBN for now, as well as some networks, radio and fm stations. We expect also bands and singers and entertainers to donate a song rendition for the OFW's, as well as we might tap showbiz personalities to host the event, for free.

Judges will also be there, the previous winners of the year 2008 headed by Jim Paredes who might also give a speech and sing a song, and Gigi Refugia, the woman behind Pansitan Portal, and Blogusvox from Saudi Arabia, famous of his Buhangin Series cartoons.

Upon entrance sa venue, nakapalibot ang mga computer LCD screens, with all the entries ng mga nominees na pwedeng basahin ng mga dadalo. Kung walang gumagamit ng mga computers, nakaslideshow ito showing ang mga sponsors logos and names.

Penshoppe, Philippine Airlines, Nokia, Smart Communications, Coca Cola Bottling Phils. San Miguel Corporation, HP Computers, PLDT, Dominos Pizza, Bench, and many others. 

Sa mga gilid ng venue ay may mga booth at banners ng mga sponsors na ito, as well as isang malaking telon na maraming logo ng PEBA para gawing background sa photo shoot ng mga bloggers, visitors, at mga pamilya nila. 

Ang gitna ng venue in between chairs and tables ay nakared carpet - ala OSCAR's award. Sampung Pinoy Expats/OFW bloggers and pipiliin, at may mga special awards at citations na pamimigyan din ng tropeo galing sa listahan ng KABLOGS na blog aggregating site.

The host might call me to give my speech as a founding chairman. I will come to the stage, and call my wife and the PEBA Twin, 

someone that inspires us so much to realize this things.

I will thank the men and women who helped me along the way. I will thank the nominees and winners for the past two years. I will thank the bloggers who supported me all through and through. I will express gratitude to the OFW's and Expats who gives hope to a nation we all call motherland, and who bring honor to the country we dearly love. We are the gift to the world collectively speaking...syempre speech ko yan, kaya di ko muna sasabihin. hehe

Then I will call the head of the PEBA 2009 Team, NJ to welcome and thank the visitors and bloggers and introduce the Keynote Speaker...

Starve the Problems, Feed the Opportunities

I simply love this quote that I printed it in big paper a long time ago 

and posted it in the wall of my room.

Do we focus on our problems or our opportunities in life?

Most of the time in our lives we focus too much on our problems in life, as well as focusing too much on the past. We should remember that there not much to be gained from looking backwards instead of forwards.

No, don't get me wrong, I am not trying to discount the rich lessons we can gained from our past experiences and failings but what I am trying to say is, its time to move on.

Do you feed your problems in life? 

Kung sa tagalog pa, ginagatungan pa ba natin ang naglalagabgab (now I am not sure if that word is right, lol) at to borrow the word of Hulascoop, masalimuot na buhay?

Are we too absorb by every minor and major problems that confronts us day in and day out? Are we too preoocupied by the challenges and seemingly insurmountable trials and problems that besets us? As a person, do we focus and even magnified our afflictions and infirmities in life?

WE SHOULD START TO EXAMINE OURSELVES. 

DO NOT FOCUS ON THE PROBLEMS OR YOU WILL BE MISERABLE. 

I AM NOT KIDDING. 

NO ONE SAYS, WALLOW IN SELF-PITY AND YOU'LL LIVE. 

OFTEN, when we are down, and we don't get up, we don't have the courage to stand and fight anymore. Thus, we end up losing the game. Losing is fine if we give our best, but if we lose because we did nothing, that's what we call, LOUSINESS.

Life has so many issues, but focus on the most trivial and important things rather than the not worth dealing with. 

STARVE THE PROBLEMS.

(pasensiya na, gutom na ako kaya I am ranting about anything here, hehe)

DO YOU FEED OPPORTUNITIES?

Do we grab every good offers, every open opportunity for advancement, for learning, for discovering something about ourselves, about the world we live, about the work we are in?

We live in a world with stiff competition, and with tremendous outpouring of knowledge and information in the web.

Do we take advantage of every good things, of every opportunities?

I encourage all to do so. 

The largest problem with focusing on problems is the distraction from concentrating on the current opportunities.

Simply put,

Starve the problems and they die.

Feed the opportunities and they flourish and live.

I am truly overwhelmed by the warm and tremendous enthusiasm the OFWs and non-OFW's are extending to KABLOGS and PEBA and the great dedication of the men and women who serves in their own sphere.

For my triple decade years of life, if I've learned anything about life, ito ay kung papaano magkaroon ng tunay and lasting happiness, or a three letter word "J-O-Y" is 

yung wag kang umupo at magtutunganga dahil sa problema, karamdaman, afflictions, infirmities, kakulangan, at kawalan ng pag-asa. 

Ang tunay na kasiyahan at kaligayahan ay kahit ikaw ay mahirap lang, walang wala, di man sikat or walang kagandahan ngunit, bagkus, datapwat, marahil...

despite ng kahirapan at kakulangan, gagamitin mo ang hirap at kulang na ito to an advantage in EMPOWERING YOURSELF TO REACH OUT TO THOSE WITH MUCH GREATER NEED.

Napapagod ka na bang mag-aral, mag-alaga ng baby or magtrabaho? 

Several years ago, may isang Italian Engineer na nagcommission at nagpatakbo ng bago naming italian machine, 28 pa lang ako nuon, ako ang pinakabata sa planta namin na may position. Sabi niya nakapunta siya ng Pilipinas, ang gaganda ng mga views, mga beaches and the girls. Binata pa ako before kaya tinanong niya ako, what I am doing here. I should be roaming around the country meetings girls and enjoying life.

I smiled. In my mind I said, "Tiziano, you don't get it"

Bakit ka nga ba nasa ibang bansa? Bakit nga ba tayo nandito? To some nakapag-asawa ng mga foreigner na minahal sila at mahal din nila, to some naging permanenteng residente ng mga bansang dati nilang pinagsisilbihan, to some para mabayaran ang utang, to some para makaahon sa kahirapan, to some para mabigyan ng magandang kinabukasan ang mga mahal sa buhay. To some para makapagadventure sa ibang bansa, and to some para makaranas ng maginhawang pamumuhay. Regardless of where we are, there come a time na nalulungkot tayo, nahohomesick.

Now, if you are discourage, nababagot, naiinis sa amo at sa mga kasamahan sa flat, sa tindero or katrabaho... 

Think about it. We are here not just for us, but for them...yung mga nasa Pilipinas. So the next time nagrereklamo ka mainit, si boss masungit, or halos babagsak ang langit, wear a smile and think about it. Bakit ka nandito, to make you happy, and to make other's happy.

DI SILA ANG MASTER NG SARILI MO. THEY WONT DICTATE YOU TO GET MAD OR RUN WILD. KAYA WEAR YOUR SMILE, FORGET YOURSELF, and GO TO WORK!

BLOGGING IS A TALENT

I know very familiar kayo sa kwento na ito, may binigyan ng mga talent, maraming talent, may katamtaman lang, at may iisang talent lang na binigay sa kanya. Yung una, pinalago at pinarami ang talent niya, ganun din ang pangalawa, pero yung binigyan ng iisang talent, sa takot niya na mawala sa kanya, ibinaon niya.

Dumating ang master nila, tinanong kung anong ginawa nila sa talentong pinamigay niya. Natuwa siya sa dalawa, pero nagalit siya sa huli at kinuha ang talent nito at pinalayas.

Kagaya sa buhay natin sa mundong ito, lahat tayo may kanya-kanyang kakayahan, may kanya-kanyang talento, yung iba, maramihan, marunong tumambling, magsplit, at kumain habang nagbloblog or bloghopping. Yung iba, okay na rin, yung iba iilan-ilan lang. Regardless of how many talents we have, there is only one thing that will last. The talents we shared.

To some with pretty faces...

To some with handsome faces and great bodies

To some with great and genius minds

and to some a good and kind heart...

and a million more talents to sing, to play, to act, to dance, to draw, to make, and to write

Blogging is also a talent.

Ang tunay na galing sa pagbloblog ay hindi nasusukat sa galing ng pagsusulat, sa dami ng komento o sa dami ng traffic hits. Ang tunay na wonder ng blogging is how we become a much better person because we learn from what we write, or we are touched by the comments of our readers. Or how we make a difference in this small world of ours.

IKAW, AKO, TAYO AT ANG KABLOGS

It all started as a personal aggregating site, yung mga time na naghahanap ako ng nominee sa Pinoy Expats Blog Awards, I listed lahat ng mga blogs ng Expats at OFW sa bawat araw na nakakapagbloghopping ako.  Nasa mga 60 lahat ang nalista ko by then. Since ang contest site ko sa PEBA is Thoughtskoto, I named the aggregating site Thoughtsmoto, parang counterpart. Mga naiisip ko, at mga naiisip mo at binablog.

Later, I decided to publish that list and make an aggregating site para sa one-stop-hop sa mga bloggers at readers.  Meron na akong code na binigay ng friend ko na American Programmer. Pero nangangapa ako sa html's kaya di ko magawa-gawa, at wala pa akong sariling domain at hosting sponsor. Eventually, cracking the codes and cracking my head, ayan na ang four column sites ng KABLOGS. hehe

 Sa ngayon meron ng more or less 200 lists of Expats and OFW bloggers sa KABLOGS, separated by continents, regions and countries. Naisip kong maghanap ng mga taong mapagkakatiwalaan and willing na magvolunteer ng kanilang time at effort for the service of fellow OFW's.

 I found some. We need more. Read it here

I have the vision, but George is the wisest among us all, he is our source of wisdom. CM infuse us with tremendous enthusiasm. And the two ladies, the youngest among us all, Jee and Jen, they are the most passionate kablogs. They have also the heaviest load to carry and they need people na magvovolunteer to help them in their task. I am grateful people heed the call. Thank you Doc RJ, Kosa, Poging Ilocano, and Deth...

During sa meeting namin last Friday, one by one, I ask their commitment. I have meet and known people who will readily say yes by helping and joining a cause, and then, yun lang. Wala man lang enthusiasm, or passion, or even the guts to ask “how can I help?” I don’t like people who said yes, and then we expect, and failed to deliver. We want people who are willing to serve and dedicate their time and talents because they are willing, even serving without compensation is wearing, challenging, and sometimes, disappointing.

THE WINNERS OF THE 2009 PEBA BADGE MAKING CONTEST

Good Evening Ladies and gentlemen, friends and pals, Kablogs and mates, fellow netizens in the world and to all the OFW’s and Pinoy Expats around the world. From our humble home in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, in behalf of the men and women behind the Pinoy Expats/OFW Blog Awards we would like to present to you the winners of the PEBA Badge/Banner Making Contest.

A few hours ago, two of my partners in PEBA sat in a round table discussion at the Sen Blas Ople Policy Center at Manila Philippines regarding the 137 Bus Drivers stranded in Dubai. The Thoughtskoto family, my friends in PEBA, and my associates in KABLOGS strongly condemns any illegal recruitment na nagsasamantala sa mga kababayang Filipino na walang hangad kundi ang makaalis ng bansa at makaahon sa hirap, at mabigyan ng magandang kinabukasan ang mga mahal sa buhay.

The Blas Ople Center through my partners promised to support and sponsors the 2009 Pinoy Expats/OFW Blog Awards. My other partner also is currently in Manila processing the papers Insha-Allah (God Willing) for our SEC Registration and PEBA incorporation. One of the famous journalist and editor and online blogger, Ellen Tordesillas also displayed the banner of Support for PEBA.

Ang munting pangarap ay patuloy na lumalaki at naggagain ng suporta. Maraming maraming salamat sa tiwala at pagsustain. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng OFW at Expats sa lahat ng sulok ng mundo. Maraming salamat mula sa kaibuturan ng aming puso.

Now we go back to the winners…Let me speak on a personal note a few lines about this 6 wonderful people. I feel a sense of gratitude to all of you for joining and taking part in our first PEBA badge/banner making contest.

Inspired ng alaala ng 16 years old pa lang ako, at nakaratay ang aking pinakamamahal na ina sa ospital, at ako ang nag-aalaga sa kanya. Ginawa ko na ngang bahay ang ospital. Stricken with breast cancer, and the lack of medicine and financial support, she was not able to recover after several chemotherapies. 

I have one biological mother, pero daan ang nakilala kong nanay at mama na nagmahal sakin ng lubos at tinuring nilang tunay na anak. A few goodness here and there from these great and kind mothers who influenced my life to be who I am now. 

Wala tayo dito sa mundong ito without the mothers. Think about it for just a moment. 

Sige nga, isipin mo nga yan kahit sandali. 

Wala ka rito kundi dahil sa nanay mo! 

In short, anak ka ng nanay mo!hehe

Happy Mothers Day po sa lahat-lahat ng mga Nanay at magiging nanay, at sa mga may nanay! I guess that covers all. :-)

At syempre happy mothers day sa pinakamamahal ko, ang nagiisang Mrs. Thoughtskoto. You have been wonderful, affable, lovely and kind...hehehe, chocolates and roses and a date...bukas sa Dharan mall.

Step by STEP Guide Para Maging Nominee ng PEBA

Marami na ang nagtanong kung papaano nga ba ang pagsali o pagiging nominado sa Pinoy Expats/OFW Blog Awards. Ang post na ito ay may layuning  maliwanagan ang lahat at mabigyan ng step by step na guide para sumali sa PEBA. Ang post na ito ay para sa mga blogger na Expats o OFW kahit saan sa buong mundo.

Brace yourself. After reading this we expect na maraming entries ang mapapasama sa nominees, hope to create a rippling effect para maging malakas na boses at matagumpay sa ating hangaring marinig.

1.          Ikaw ba ay qualified na sumali?

o   Ang qualified na sumali ay bloggers na Pinoy or half-Pinoy na nagtratrabaho as OFW or expats na nasa sa ibang bansa. Kung ikaw ay nakapag-asawa ng foreigner, pwede ka ring sumali. In short, Filipino by blood and by heart pero wala sa sariling lupa for at least 6 months pwedeng sumali.

 o   Blogger ka at my archive ng the last 6 months minimum na mga post mo. Updated also ang post mo ng kahit once a month.

o   Visible ang yung blogger profile online at email address na active para pwedeng makontak.

 

2.          Kilatisin mo ang iyung blog. Alin sa mga ito ay pasok sa criteria.

 

o   Ang blog mo ba ay nagpropromote ng peace at goodwill?

o   Ang blog mo ba ay may kwento ng buhay sa abroad, at makukuhanan ng inspiration tuwa at pag-asa ng mga Pinoy sa buong mundo?

o   Ang blog mo ba ay may post na nakapagyaman ng kultura at pamumuhay ng Filipino sa Pilipinas?

 

3.          Gumawa ng Blog post o Entry na may relevance sa tema ng PEBA

 

o   “Filipinos Abroad: Hope of the Nation, Gift to the World.”

Or sa Tagalog,

o   “Pinoy Expats/OFW: Pag-asa ng Bayan, Handog sa Mundo.”

 

o   Kahit anong paraan ng pageexpress ay pwede. Isa or maraming ganito sa post ay pwede.

o   Kung ikaw ay may video na naaayon sa tema, post mo  na may explanation.

o   Kung ikaw ay may picture/photo na naaayon sa tema, post mo ng may explanation.

o   Kung ikaw ay magaling magdrawing, magdraw ka ng naaayon sa tema at may explanation.

o   Kung ikaw ay mahilig magcompose ng lyrics ng kanta or tula at naaayon sa tema, post mo rin ito.

o   Kung ikaw ay may kwento, or may essay, or may article, or prose na naaayon sa tema, post mo rin ito.

o   Hindi lamang sa mga namention sa itaas, kahit anong ways ng expression, pagalingan ng ideya, pananaw, adhikain, hinaing, pangarap, mag munting tinig na pag pinagsama-sama at pinagbubuklod-buklod ay nagiging isang higanteng boses para marinig ng mga kababayan saan mang panig ng mundo.

 

4.          Isama ang logo ng PEBA sa post na ito at ilink ang project ng 2009 Search for the Top 10 Pinoy Expats/OFW Blog Awards.

 

o   Logo ng PEBA.

o   Link sa www.pinoyexpatsblogawards.com

 

5.         Email sa Pinoy Expats/OFW Blog Awards or PEBA ang peba09@gmail.com or top10pinoyexpatsblog@gmail.com ng link ng inyong post entry.

Kapag kayo ay nakapasok bilang nominee after maverify at macheck ng PEBA representative ang iyong post, you will be given through email a NOMINEE badge to be displayed sa blog mo.

6.          Ang iyong entry ay gagawan ng LINK sa HOMEPAGE ng PEBA para sa Botohan.

 

o   Ang iyong Blog Name at URL link ng iyong post entry ay isasama sa Polling Widget sa PEBA homepage.

o   Hikayatin ang mga kaibigan, kapuso at kapamilya na iboto ang inyong blog. Hanggang sa sampung blog ang pwede maiboto. One vote per PC/Unit/IP Address only.

o   Ang PEBA Pre-screening committee ay pipili ng mga kalahok sa final round. Ang blog post at ang botong makukuha ang pinakabasehan ng pre-judging upang makasali sa FINAL ROUND.

o   Form = 20%, Substance = 50%, Originality=30%

o   We will also include the Top 10 na mananalo sa poll.

 

7.          Ito ang Criteria at Percentage ng FINAL Judging

·         A) Content                       30%

·         B) Blog Element              15 %

·         C) Visibility/Metrics        15 %

·         D) Voting/Popularity       10%

·         E) Judges Vote                15%

·         F) Entry Blog Post          15%

·         TOTAL SCORE =            100%

 

8.          Ang pagpost ng entry ay hanggang sa huling araw ng October 2009. Pwede pa pagandahin or dagdagan ang inyong entry kahit napost na ito.

Ang posted entry ay pwede pang maedit hanggang sa huling araw ng October without changing the link of the post.

9.          Ang botohan ay hanggang sa 08 November 2009.

 

10.       Ang awarding ay magaganap sa Manila sa December 2009.
